Doting on Dad

Happy Father’s Day for 6 September when we give special thoughts and appreciation to fathers everywhere. In 1909, Sonora Smart Dodd, one of six children raised by a widower tried to establish an official equivalent for Mother’s Day for fathers. She lobbied local churches, the YMCA, shop keepers and local government to garner support and in 1910, her efforts were rewarded when Washington State celebrated its first state wide Father’s Day. The rest is history. So we have an historical touch to our Father’s Day wrap with vintage paper featuring French bicycles, a black ribbon and the all important black gift tag. When you have such a lovely print paper, you don’t need an over powering ribbon, though I could not resist the temptation to use a colour coordinated copper colour pen to write the message.
