On 9 September we celebrate Teddy Bear Day – a chance to give your favourite teddy a hug and a picnic of course. The melody for the classic song Teddy Bears’ Picnic was written in 1907 shortly after teddy bears were first starting to appear in Europe and the U.S. The lyrics were added in 1932. The American toy bears were named Teddy after President Theodore Roosevelt who, it is said, refused to shoot a small captured bear on a hunting trip. Among the most famous of bears are Paddington Bear, Rupert Bear and Winnie the Pooh. Our wrap is an ode to Pooh with a Kraft bear, yellow honey bees and a blue textured paper. I wanted the bear and bees to have a three dimensional feel and so used a little bit of mounting foam to lift them off the blue background.
