I think I have grossly underestimated the mountain. Today 11 December is the UN’s International Mountain Day. Mountains cover 22% of the earth’s land surface. They provide sustenance to 915 million mountain people across the globe and impact billions more downstream by providing freshwater, energy and food. The theme for 2915 is Promoting Mountain Products for Better Livelihoods – a challenge aimed at eradicating poverty without degradation of fragile mountain ecosystems. I have a mountain wrap in cool green and grey triangles set against a fabulous and colourful paper of flora, fauna and whisky clouds. I was worried it was a bit crafty class but sometimes you have to give triangles a go and see where it takes you. I also tried a number of different blues (my natural tendency is to go for big dark blues) but am glad I gave these mutes tones a go.
