Diamond or lozenge

Today 8 January you need to know about the argyle pattern because it is Argyle Day. The argyle pattern is made of diamonds or lozenges. The word refers to an individual diamond in the design and the overall pattern. The argyle pattern is derived from the kilts and plaids of the tartan of Clan Campbell, of Argyll in western Scotland, as well as from the patterned socks worn by Highlanders since at the 17th century.

Even though I have no interest whatsoever in golf, I like the argyle pattern and once had a Pringle of Scotland argyle knitted vest in shades of purple that I was ever so proud of. Looking back I maybe should not have been so proud of that look. However the symmetry and order of the pattern continues to appeal to me and I find that it spans occasions and genders with aplomb. Today I have a black and white argyle pattern and continued the monochrome look with the ribbon. All topped off with a Scottie Dog tag. Too much Scotland? Never!
