Creating beautiful gift wrapping starts with measuring the right amount of paper. Most people use way too much paper and end up wrangling and scrunching it.
If you are wrapping a rectangular prism and gifts that approximate the rectangular prism, place the gift in landscape position and measure enough paper to go all the way the thin part of the gift around plus 6 cm.
The question I get asked more than any other.
When I am faced with an awkward shape I delve into my metaphorical kit bag of tricks. But a word to start, when you are wrapping an unusually shaped gift you need to decide whether you simply want to cover or protect it ….
I love ephemera. I love wrapping with it. I love how it can convey very special meaning. I love that its eco friendly.
The dictionary defines ephemera usually in the plural – as paper items (posters, broadsheets, maps, guides and tickets) that exist or are enjoyed for only a short time and generally of no lasting significance.
I prefer to store larger lengths of paper in a roll vertically and stand the rolls upright in a lovely basket or pretty bin.
A lot of people use dedicated hang up wrapping paper holders or suit packs – but I find these are limited to rolls of a certain length and also you cannot use them for large heavy rolls of the paper you use all the time.
